It's ... hot right now and got pretty hot before we finished "exploring" the Slaughter Pen trails. Our attempts to find our way about was hampered by debris and detritus from the Memorial Day weekend tornadoes .... that we did not hear about until we arrived and saw HUNDREDS of downed trees. Many of the trails have been cleared .... and a bunch have not. And many aren't marked as blocked, while others were. At one point we found ourselves somehow in the middle of the city's sewer plant and then its recycling area despite the fact trails aren't in either place. Not sure how we did that except it was unclear what was a trail and what was a not ... Despite all that ... pretty interesting trail system, well built and with DOZENS of trails and options. Notice the straight line at 9.9 miles; that was when the rear tire got a cut in the sidewall and went flat immediately. HIked straight down the hill toward the paved trail area, where I tubed it, pumped it up and we headed back to town. Bought a new tire at a bike shop and went back to the VRBO house and installed it ... for tomorrow...
