Wow! One more beautiful day at Mt Spokane on the MTB. Took a little different route today a portion of which was along the North Blanchard Creek & Axford Roads some of which take you outside the Park boundary. I've not traveled these prior to today. The journey began at the 1st parking area just inside the Park entrance. Traveled up trail #110 to Upper Kit Carson loop rd then jumped on trail #130 all the way to the top of Day Mtn. Very pretty up there today. Continued on trail #130 back down to Kit Carson loop rd where I headed down approximately one mile to the junction of N. Blanchard Creek rd. This road is steep and goes downhill all the way until it meets Axford. There is a very large rut running down the road which varies in depth between 5 and 8 ft. The climb back up Axford to where it once again meets trail #130 is long and steep, good for both lungs & legs. Once back on trail #130 I stayed on it all the way back down to Selkirk Lodge parking area where I jumped on trail #120 that took me back to my car. The fall colors are beyond description and I also received a special treat today while up on trail #130. There was a log across the path and just as I was about to go under I looked up and saw a cow moose about 30 ft away. She was quite mild and just stood there looking at me. You'll see her in some of the attached photos. She was in my path home and after waiting about 15 minutes it became clear that she was heading up the path I was heading down. Given it's her domain I respectfully turned around and rode an alternate route out which included quite a bit more climbing but worth every pedal stroke! (Not only that she was big!!)
