Back on the bike after being rescued by the world's greatest/nicest bike mechanics! Managed to have my bag transported to me 10 km's into the route - my spare spokes and rear derailleur hanger were in it... An hour later I was back on the road... the sweeper drove me a couple of km's up the road past the detour so I could find the route.
Thought it'd be a long, lonely 155 km day, but I managed to pass a dozen or more people and actually catch the group at Waterpoint 2 at the 52 km mark. Going 42-47 km/hr into the wind did the trick, I guess! 😀
Felt the strongest of the last 4 days and the climbing seemed easier after Tom worked on it (it needs more work tonight). Heart rate was in Endurance/Low Tempo zones the whole time. I wonder if the change in elevation (versus minus something in Amsterdam) and 5 hour sleeps has anything to do with that...
I decided I'd stick with the group, so took it easy but I really felt like I could have averaged 37-40 km/hr today. Lots of rolling hills, which I actually like... Quite a bit of stops and starts but riding with nice peeps today in more lekker weather made it worth it - super!
