I was 5 minutes late getting out the door, so I had to shoot straight out to meet Sid on the road. Once I got out to the road the wind hit me hard! I started to wonder if I was recovered enough to keep up with Sid. I had a phone call so I stop to check to see if it was Sid but it wasn't so I went on my way. Sid was only another 1/2 mile down the road. I turned around before he got to me. So I did the first pull. The wind was at my back, I actually felt pretty good so I stayed on the pull for a long time. At about 26 miles we hit the wind and it kicked my butt, I held as strong as I could. The wind was crazy but we pushed through it, I nor Sid really wanted to push it but it was hard not to. If we slowed down too much the wind would actually be worse. At times the wind hit so hard it felt as if we came to a stop. We were troopers working it all the way to the end. On my last 4.5 miles it was with the wind at my back on newly paved road and with the first portion with a slight decline. I decided to take advantage of this so I kicked it up a few notches. I had a good pace going then I started to day dream and off I went. I got to the light and had to stop., it took major effort to get going again but did and off to dream world I went again, (when I go into dream world I loose all sense of reality and push myself way faster than I should be going). I got my pace up and I decide to hold it all the way to the light. Which I had to come to a near stop to make the turn because the cars kind of blocked my path. So the last 1/2 mile was my cool down. The ride was very successful, I felt much better than I thought I would especially with the wind! Finishing this year year out strong, one more day to complete another goal of riding everyday in November and December. Accomplishing these little goals may seem to be senseless and even pointless but they are part of a greater picture! Lookout 2014, here I come along with the rest of the Rock It Riders team...
