It was very windy and cold, on the way to meet the guys It got really dark, wind picked up and started to snow. I was about to call to see if the ride was cancelled but I was over half ways so I decided to ride there even if it was cancelled, this way I would at least get in near 30 miles.
Well I get another 4 miles and it got bright, clear and stayed windy. Ride was on! I finally got to Hercules home and we waited for Tank to arrive. Well on the ride up my legs felt a little flat, I was worried would get dropped but I knew the course and know my around. We started out at a nice warm up pace, we get to Atlantic Ave. and it was on Hercules took off with Tank right on his wheel. I didn't know it was going to be an all out sprint, I chased after them got up to 32.5 mph and my legs were screaming and didn't know how long I could hold on so before I hit empty I slowed down and watch them pull away, I kept going but at a much slow speed they finally slowed and I was able to catch back up. I thought to myself, "I am going to be in trouble". The next major sprint a car had passed us and they went after the car to stay on its bumper, I followed and again I got to a point that I felt it was better that I shut it down before I emptied out. They again slowed down a bit down the road and I again caught back up. I was going so fast on this chase that my magnet for my speed sensor slide down towards the rim through centrifugal force! Like that one funny right? For 1.5 miles I did not have a reading for speed or distance, we came up to a light and I was able to readjust the magnet. For most of the sprints for the first half of the ride I was not able to keep up, on the second half they slowed their sprint speed up a little and I was able to keep up. I enjoyed the sprint training ride, it is something that I needed to do and between my speed training I will be doing on the trainer and with Hercules group results will happen. On my ride home I was hoping to have a tailwind but I had a side wind which was blowing all over the place, I had to maintain sa good grip on the bars so I wouldn't loose control. I had stopped the timer on the Garmin and forgot to turn it back on until I got near the WaWa so I lost another 5 miles on the Garmin. The ride was a nice one and I was happy to get back home, legs are tired ready for a few recovery rides.
This is the last ride for the year a nice ending to!
Happy New Year to All and may you all have a safe, happy, good health and rewarding year ahead with much love!
