We hadn't started at the Day Use area off MD355 in a coupla years, so that was the first bit of shenanigans. Then we went all the way along the old road along the creek out to Burnt Hill, looking for reported trail work. It did not seem to exist. But then Mark discovered his bottom bracket was loose and really, not just loose but the bearings allowed the crank axle to move up and down... But nevertheless, we rode BACKWARD from the typical direction on Hard Cider, which was fun and new and interesting. Then UP the switchbacks on Logger's for the first time ever annnnnd Mark decided the grinding noise from his bracket was no good, so he bailed to make his ride shorter. Dan and I continued along Logger's so we could do the fun descent on Browning Run. And since today is apparently backward day, we then rode north on Clarksburg Road a coupla hundred feet to ride the Tobacco Barn trail in the oppose direction from usual. Then THAT led to riding Dark Branch in the opposite-from-"normal" direction before the great two miles that is Sidewinder. Climbed back up Prescott Road (ugh) and then Sopers Branch and felt really good. Bad for Mark, otherwise a great ride for the rest of us. Eager to go back and do some more of this not-normal stuff... (GPS track came from watch/phone because SOMEbody left their Garmin on for several days and it ran outta juice.)
