This may be the last chance for a local levee ride before the weather turns hot and sticky, and the bugs get too bad. I posted the ride on our local ride email and Yossi said he would go. Unfortunately he had a mechanical problem and had to drop out. I went down to ProTech Bike and turns out the DID NOT change the time for the ride. It is still 8pm, not 7. So I was an hour early.
I took it easy going down, and had a little cross wind. There is a lot of construction at the Markham Park entrance so mounting the levee was tricky. We started at a very steady 16 mph double pace line. The one guy shot up the middle and the gauntlet was thrown. The pace quickly shot up to 24 but settled at about 19. I hung on as long as I could but when I was going to be next to pull, I looked down and my HR was already 90%. I pulled off and got the HR down to 85% or lower. I almost caught the end of the pack at Atlantic. There I said good bye, and jumped off the levee and headed home.
