So, I injured my knee last week and haven't been able to go for a ride till today. I wasn't sure what to expect. Fortunately, the weather was excellent, overcast but nice and comfortable. My knee injury consists of pain in the fleshy, front part of the knee. It's difficult for me to walk up and down stairs. As it turns out, cycling wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The motion of pedaling in circles was less stressful than walking. For the first half of the ride, I had to favor my left leg and let my right leg spin with little resistance. As the ride went on, my knee felt better. I got out of the saddle a few times for the steeper parts of the ride. I used my upper body more than usual, to stabilize what I couldn't put down into my right leg. I kept the pace very very slow. The wind was from the south, but it didn't really make a difference, given that I was going at a granny's pace. Right now, my knee feels better. I think the increase in circulation (from the ride) helped. Concentration was good, I never lifted the pace beyond what my knee could handle. Balance, moot, of course as is expected with my inury. I anticipate that I can get back up to speed by end of next week. More rehab rides to come in the next 7 days or so. Other stuff, gear is working well. I think I might put the other hutch tire on my front wheel so that it matches the back. Donkey was there at OTR, I stopped to pet him, he seemed to enjoy it.
