Northcliff to Yirri Karta
The cafe was open, even though it said it wasn't opening until 8am
The riding was pretty good to start with, but a lot of gravel road.
It was dull & overcast for quite a while, then the sun poked it's head out.
It didn't make any difference to the temperature though.
Then the rain came. Lots of it.
It eventually gave up, and there was some nice Sandy sections. Not too soft.
Then I found the up down, up & down gravel road. Just relentless. It feels like you're making no progress at all.
There were some sections of narrower gravel track, with dead plants either side.
It looked like they'd been poisoned. I assume to prevent overgrowth.
But it gave an uncomfortable sense of 'forbidden Forrest'.
I was just about at the next hut when the skies opened again. I could see blue sky all around, but above me was a rain cloud, just for me.
After what felt like a reasonably long day (I didn't stop much), I arrived at the hut surprisingly early 1pm
It's another 50km to the next hut, so it would be dark before I got there.
Besides, it's a nice new hut.
There were 2 guys already there. They were pushing on north.
I recognised one of their bikes from instagram.
A little while later, after I set up camp. A girl turned up.
It was the girl who posted up on the facebook page asking for help with a broken spoke.
She's a ER nurse. Quite the adventureist.
She's got her flight booked home a week on Sunday.
Quite a deadline to aim for.
Me on the other hand, I don't know what to do for the best.
Try and crack on to Walpole 80km do Denmark to Albany in a day. Only to find I can't get a bus for 3 days. Or that Chloe has planned to come down?
