Dodging rangers in the foggin' fog!
Yesterday was super windy and luckily today was not. There was no fog yesterday (probably because of the wind?) and we were hoping today was going to be the same. Sadly it was not. It was super foggy!
Ali wanted to ride dirt. Emily was camping at Kirby Cove and really twisted my arm (Narrator: She did not.) so we'd ride over in the Headlands with her.
Ali hadn't gone out to the Labyrinth and neither her or Lukas had ridden Hostel before. Too bad it was so foggy.
Have I mentioned that it was foggy? You might notice it in the photos.
There were two rangers parked right at the gate before you head up to the Labyrinth/Battery Townsley which meant we couldn't do the first part of the trail as it's in full view and we'd be silhouetted by the fog behind us. Stupid fog!
At least the fog lifted as we made our way through the Presidio and made for some nice angel boners.
I was really worried about a long line at Arsicault, and being able to make it back for my meeting, but it wasn't that bad.
While waiting in line, I saw someone riding by and getting cut off by a car. As they were trying to figure out what this car was doing and get around them, I thought it was Kathryn but I wasn't completely sure. As she started to ride away I could see that it was her and yelled out her name. I didn't realize I scared Emily but it was loud enough that Kathryn turned around and came back to see who it was.
While I was chatting with her, Nathan, Kailen, and Gino rolled by as well. And earlier I saw John Z. on the north end parking lot of the bridge.
I got the new Specialized 2FO Roost Clip shoes yesterday. I'd been eyeing them for a long time as I have the 2FO Roost Flat and love those. The Clip have been on sale, deeply discounted and I don't regret the purchase even though this is my third pair of "gravel" shoes. They're by far the most comfortable to walk around in - one of the things I liked about the Flat. You barely notice the cleat when walking, even on concrete.
The right shoe feels dialed. The left shoe, the cleat position needs fine tuning but I'm not sure how exactly.
