Today was nice and sunny. In the mid 60's. I wore 1 base layer, shorts & short sleeves. I was perfectly comfortable. The winds were from the south. Which of course means that I had a tailwind on the way out. I made it to the top of the descent in about 8 minutes or so. The downhill was a bit dangerous because of the turbulent wind. I was constantly making adjustments while going around the corners. My legs felt pretty good. I didn't know what to expect on the return trip. Fortunately, I was shielded by the surrounding mountains and there were only a few sections where I had to spend a few minutes in a pure head-wind, such as the base of the loop. I had no serious ailments. I did feel a slight cramping on my right thigh, but it was deep inside. It lasted no more than a minute and was brought on from a sudden acceleration. I kept the pace nice and steady. Moderate tempo for the whole climb. I did good time, considering. My concentration was spot on, I kept my eyes on the horizon and stayed on top of the pedals without getting close to the red line. Balance was also good. Again, staying on top of the pedals and feeling my way around. Gear is working well, but there is a slight glitch in the chain or perhaps the rear cassette or the front chainrings. It feels like it mis-shifts for a split second and then rights itself. I stopped to check it out, and I didn't see any stiff links. I need to inspect the gears for chipped teeth.
