I was reluctant to get out today. It was cold in the morning, so I took my morning nap after breakfast. I managed to convince myself to get out. It's cold, but the sky is nice and blue. I'm glad I got out. I wore arms, knees, head cap, and my jacket. It turned out to be the ideal kit for this ride. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put two good digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I headed back with the intention to remove my jacket at the Chavez Center. So, that's what I did. I used the velcro staps in the coat pocket to secure it around my waste. After the brief stop, I headed back on the road. (Funny thing, I put my road id on my saddle when I took off my jacket. I forgot to put it back on and didn't notice. I was sitting on it for the remainder of the ride. I didn't notice any discomfort and is probably why it slipped my mind). The return went fairly quick. Counting off the landmarks helped. After reaching the Loop Monument, I felt better in the morale. I settled into a good tempo. Doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The jacket around my waist didn't feel too uncomfortable. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover and hydrate. I headed back home shortly after and shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I was a bit impatient making my way to the base of the climb. My morale got better as I progressed on the climb. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I drank more than half my sport drink, no water. Ailments were minimal. I think my right knee was a bit tender on the return for just a few moments. I had numbness in the hands while out of the saddle for extended periods. Gear worked flawlessly. I'm glad I didn't lose my Road ID. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were a few spectators at the Loop Monument on my way back.
