Today is cold (upper 40’s) and cloudy, but habitable for a bike ride. Winds were from the North West. I wore the standard winter kit and it held me over for the duration of the ride. I made it to the top of WTR in average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I didn’t bother checking the time at the bottom of Keene, but it was likely around 32 minutes or so. I was looking forward to the return because the wind was going to be on my back. After making it to the base, I headed back without hesitation. The legs felt pretty good and I was plenty warm. The miles went quick and the landmarks helped as I passed them by. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts for the duration of the climb. The body responded well. I kept my momentum going over the top. I was near max but had some matches remaining. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then headed back home. The descent into the tailwind was a treat. I shut it down after the last dig to the summit of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had lots to think about and it kept me occupied in the mind. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. The new saddle position feels good. I am going to keep it where it is for the next few rides, just to confirm. Ailments were minimal. Some hand numbness, not much else. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana, grapes and apple sauce before the start of the ride. That held me over. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no surprise that there were no cyclists out there today.
