Today I headed down through Jaen starting near the cathedral and making way way down to the train station. At the train station there was an old branch Lane which went all the way through Andalucia across to Puente Genil.
It's such a shame that the train's dont run anymore, but it's created a fantastic cycleway I could just imagine those old trains hurtling along this old Line through fantastic countryside. It must have been one of the best lines ever built. But today I would have it all for myself.
I had cycled half of this route from baena to Jaen going the other way a few years ago.
The sun was out and soon I was cycling through olive Groves going through Tunnels and over steel Bridges in particular the bridge over the Guadaljoz is awesome.
I stopped for lunch at an old station called that la estacion near Luque. This is where the old branch Line from Baena joins the Jaen to Puente Genil line.
I expected to quiet lunch but the station is also nearby the motorway and is used as a service station by many.
The journey from here across to Puente Genil was new to me under law it started well after cabra and near Lucena it turned into a bit of a commute.
There were lots of walkers out joggers people walking dogs that was all difficult to make progress and the countryside slowly changed and wasn't his spectacular, even the weather had clouded over. The last 20 miles became a bit of a need to do and I was in town just as the sun was setting.
