Bob had to head East unexpectedly and Sonny was skiing with the fam which left me all by myself.
I didn’t intend to do Sawyer Camp Trail two weekends in a row but I haven’t been to Dad’s in a while and I haven’t done the loop in a very long while.
This loop is the companion/counterpart to last weekends Bay Loop.
Getting out of the house wasn’t the issue it normally is since I decided to do this loop the night before and didn’t have to change plans.
The coast views in Pacifica were beautiful. It got hazy farther south and the ocean became washed out instead of that pretty turquoise.
They’ve finally added a guardrail to the curve on Hwy 1 south of Gray Whale Cove that so many people have driven off the cliff and into the ocean.
The wildflowers are starting to bloom and there were some decent sized patches. I wonder whether there’ll be a super bloom this year.
Dad’s was pretty busy and I nearly bailed since Scott was cooking instead of manning the register. I did eventually see him when he was delivering orders. I normally order dessert but didn’t today so I was pleasantly surprised when he brought me my order and told me he included dessert. It was delicious and very nice of him. I’m glad I stuck it out.
Coincidentally, Scott has a new cookbook on sale now called Coastal.
Originally I was going to just head down 1 after lunch but opted for the quieter backroads instead even though that meant more climbing.
I had Tunitas all to myself. There were so many branches and leaves littering the ground from the last storm.
My Garmin was on the PR screen and for a while I was racing against it but soon realized it wasn’t sustainable. I was 10-11 minutes slower by the top. 😬
RIP my fitness. 🪦
Descending Kings started off so great. I did catch a car just after the long straight and wide section where the MTBers shuttle but they were easy to pass. Just after Huddart though I hit a train of slow cars that wasn’t safe to pass. 🤬

Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time.
