Another great day of cycling, with Paul F. Note the departure time was 6:19am. We started from Fry's at 59th Ave/ Loop 101 as it was a good midpoint for both of us.
I seemed to have very heavy, tired legs, probably brought on by the prior day preceedings of the passing of my cat Walter, the night time IT party where I played pickle ball for the first time, and a short time of sleep. Paul was nice enough to slow down for me.,
We agreed this would be a tour and not a race! We stopped whenever we wanted and we explored nearby areas. At mile 21 we ran into a road block due to a terrible car accident, at which we think involved a fatality since many Glendale Police were present and the car we saw was totally crushed. After checking with the police with used the sidewalk to get around the closed section.
At mile 24.2 we road the gravel to get to the fancy houses. Then on the return pass nearby Glendale airport at mile 32.6 we again used the sidewalk to get here and turned into West Mec as they had their north gate open, to get on down to Glendale airport and back.
At mile 38.6 Paul said he wanted to see the field of grass being rolled out of the stadium. Then we road over to see Sportmen's Park before getting back on the trail. Then down at mile 42.3 Paul pointed out that maybe I should have had the route go down to the main intersection and use the crossing of the stop light. That is a good point, yet usually this is a low traffic time when I arrive. Still he had a good point.
At mile 49.8 the fencing was finally all down around Peoria city hall, so any route was open. Nice area of gardens around the city hall.
Then at mile 53.2 Paul was interested in seeing the rest of Sahuaro Ranch Park, including the peacocks/hens, rose garden, houses, etc. So we rode slowly all around the park. SO many peacocks/hens!
Then finally at the end we opted to not ride along the frontage road since to shoulder. We opted to turn around and use the bike lane at mile 65. That was a good idea.
