It’s a great day to get out. In the low 60’s. Winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, head cap, thick base layer and newspaper in the jersey. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. After reaching the OTR summit, I headed back and on my way to Keene. I made it to the top of the Keene descent in about 45 minutes. I put in two digs on the risers. Otherwise, I cruised the downhill. I forgot to check the time at the base. Nevertheless, after making it there, I removed the newspaper from my jersey and then headed back. I stopped at the Chavez Center to remove my head cap. I got back on the road and decided to make another quick bio pit stop. That was the last of the stop until I made it back home. The miles went relatively quick. I had a few things to think about that made things go quicker. After the second dip, I was feeling better in the moral. I stretched while descending on the dips. The summit looked closer to the eye. I was listening to the GPS announcements. I think they were off by about 15 to 20 watts. Not sure why, perhaps the calibration didn’t work this time. Otherwise, the body, lungs and legs felt good. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins to speak of. Balance and form was good. Ailments, the usual hand soreness while grinding out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana, grapes and Clif Bar before the start of the ride. That held me over. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. I brought an extra bottle of water and some powder in a baggie. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were some people at the Loop Monument. I gave a courtesy wave to one of them. There was a cyclist descending as I was making my way back.
