Left the hotel we cycled through Histon village en route to elevenses at Cottenham Community Centre, good choice.
Left Cottenham towards Rampton the by lane and track to Longstanton where an new realignment of the B1050 confused us as it had cut the Over Road in two. We regained the Over Road and soon turned off heading towards Swavesey the Fen Drayton. Passing through Fen Drayton we came across the attractive Three Tuns PH which proved to be an excellent lunch stop. We ate in the garden which had a children’s Climbing frame which inspired Lawrie to revisit his childhood.
After lunch we cycled to Fenstanton where the route took us under the A14 through Knapwell to join the St Neots road near Bourn Airfield which was followed to Coton where we Bumped into Ian & Caroline before visiting the American War Cemetery. We then proceeded to Coton Garden Centre for tea in their excellent cafe.
From Coton we made our way north through Cambridge to the hotel.
