Weather Sunny with moderate north breeze.
On the ride Lawrie, Alec, Bernie, Ivy, Jackie, John M, Les, Beryl, & Colin.
A car assisted ride we started at Wicken Fen NT Car Park.
Leaving the car park we crossed the A1128 to Chapel Lane which continued on as a byway for about 1.5 miles to Soham. We stopped for elevenses at the Oporto Cafe, a Portuguese styled establishment on Red Lion Square.
We left Soham along Broad Piece and followed the road across farmland to Barway where we joined NCR11 along the River Great Ouse to Ely. On arrival at Ely we found ourselves pondering where to go next outside the grade entrance of the Royal Standard PH and just had to investigate in true loiterers fashion.
After a false start we found our way through Cherry Hill Park with fine views of the cathedral, through a fine gatehouse, onto the streets of the city.
A mix of roads and paths found us on a cycle path alongside the A142 before joining quieter roads through Witchford to Wilburton and tea at The Twenty Pence Garden Centre.
