Overcast but not raining.
The 20km or so leaving the river at Koblenz across to Aldernach were no fun at all. A thicket of bendy roads, junctions, traffic lights & level crossings - passing through nondescript residential areas and lots of light industry.
The historical inhabitants of this section of the River Rhine seem to have been less belligerent (or maybe less fearful) than those of the bit of the river south-east along which I cycled yesterday, as fewer castles dotted the commanding heights of the riverside hills.
The paved riverside path delivered me to within 1km of my hotel.
The bits of Bonn I saw were not attractive, save the 11th - 13th C Catholic Cathedral - the Bonner Münster. A spacious uncluttered peaceful interior, with fine coloured stain glass behind the altar - and unusual white & grey ones high along the side walls.
