It's warming up a bit, so I tried to get out as early as possible. It's in the mid / upper 70's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. i cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in good average time. After reaching the base, I made a quick text to Peggy and then headed back up the mountain. I was a bit sluggish to start, but the climbing legs warmed up in about 10 minutes into the ascent. I kept the tempo steady and let the difficulty rise as I progressed. The landmarks helped and the GPS announcements kept me busy. I had a few things to think about, too. After reaching the second dip, I was feeling better in the morale. I kept the power down going over the top. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and stretch on the bike. At around that time, I decided to add OTR. It turned out to be a good idea. I felt pretty good. I guess my body was warmed up, but not too depleted. I didn't bother checking the time at the summit. I headed back once there. I was able to enjoy the downhill. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was a bit impatient at times, but not so much. I had minimal lapses and no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal, just the usual hand soreness from digging out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I had a nice bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before the start of the ride. During the ride, I drank all of m sport drink and half of my water. No feeding. Gear worked flawlessly, however the mystery clicks persist, and the front brake rubbing persists as well, although very slight. Other notes, no cyclists out today. There were some friendly motorists.
