It’s a great day to get out. I got up around 7 AM. Turned out to be the perfect time to get up. The weather is in the 70’s with winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt ok to start. I had a slight headwind in the way up OTR. I made it to the summit in average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, I was using my small gears and doing in and out of the saddle efforts. I was feeling better when I reached the Alpine Forest. I think the wind let up when I got there because it didn’t feel like I was pushing into the wind. My patience felt better when I reached the speed bumps. That segment went quick. I was near max going over the top. I made my way around the backside and had fun on the downhill. From there, I made it to the summit of Banducci. I pulled over to recover and let traffic by. I didn’t bother checking the time, but likely average. Shortly after, I headed back down the mountain. There was minimal traffic from behind. I let them pass. The descent off the Banducci Wall was mostly safe. I was feathering the brakes. After reaching the base, I headed up Highline and then around the Buffalo neighborhood. I got back on Highline and made my way back to OTR. Descending off OTR was mostly relaxing and enjoyment. I pushed over Mariposa and then the grind to the top of Weston. I shut it down at the top like usual.
Concentration was good. I had a few things to think about. I was a bit impatient at the start, but it got better as the ride progressed. I was in the zone most of the time and there were no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before departing. Ailments, the usual hand soreness, but mild as such. Gear worked flawlessly. The mystery click around the saddle area persists. I’m not sure what to do about it. I was advised not to spray lubricant into the railings. More investigating later. The front when brakes seem to be doing better. More investigating on that too. Other notes, no cyclists today.
