I had lab today at 8AM. I got up earlier than usual. I had breakfast and then went to lab before 8AM. After that, I went back home, got suited up and then headed out the door. The weather is nice. A tad on the warm side, but comfortable. The wind was from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put two digs on the risers. There was some traffic mitigation towards the bottom of the descent. I had to push it a bit because there were no safe turnouts. After making it to the base, I headed back with no hesitation. I put in my mind to be patient for the first 10 minutes till my legs warmed up. I felt good after making it out of the gauntlet. I played it by the landmarks after that. My right hip was hinting on soreness. It was enough to resort to mitigating it. I was doing in and out of the saddle effort while adjusting my cadence. The soreness didn’t go away, but didn’t escalate much either. After the second dip, I was feeling better in the morale. I let the difficulty get to me towards the top. I kept the power down going over the summit. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. From there, I headed to OTR. I relaxed a bit while getting there. Somewhat of PT time. My right hip was feeling a bit better after letting up on the tempo for a while. After reaching the summit, I headed back without stopping. The descent was enjoyable and I was able to relax. I pushed moderately over Mariposa and then back to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was a bit impatient in places, otherwise, I was in the zone with minimal lapses. No gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form felt so so. I think I have to adjust the cleats on my shoes. Perhaps inward on the stance. I’m also thinking about tilting the saddle up by a fraction. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and half a banana with grapes just before the start of the ride. Ailments, most notably the right hip and the usual hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly, but the mystery clicks persist. I have a feeling it could be more than one issue. Other notes, I saw two cyclists on their way back when I started the descent to Keene.
