This version, also a shuttle route, skips both "pine" climbs (knob and grove), neither of which we particularly like, and has minimal repeated sections. As a result, less climbing by several hundred feet. All this so we can ride DOWN the Rock Oak Run trail at the beginning. We've done that trail in the other way and haaaaated it. But it does create some challenges in managing to ride most of the trails without repeating something. The conclusion over post ride beverages was nah, nice try, this isn't ideal. Another extremely humid morning on its way to a hot, humid afternoon and we were glad to be done, though it was not a death march at the end. Trails in reasonably good shape despite an overnight rain -- a puddle here and there and a small mudhole or two but otherwise firm, fast and mostly tacky, except for the occasional very dry sections.
