It’s still warm, but I managed to get up in time. The temperature was around 75, winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I brought two bottles, reluctant to take a third. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I played the downhill safe, keeping an eye on the corners. I didn’t bother checking the time when I reached the base. Checking the metrics, I made it to the base in good average time. After making it to the base, I headed back without delay. The weather was warming up, but it was comfortable. A lot of my concentration went into patience. The landmarks went fast. I had stuff to think about and my music with announcements helped. After making it to the Lower Loop, I was feeling better in the mind. By the time I reached the second dip, I was starting to think what to add next. I kept the tempo going while doing in and out of the saddle efforts. I avoided the red-line until the very end. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. Then I headed towards OTR. Making my way up OTR was mostly moderate tempo. The legs felt pretty good. After making it to the top of OTR, I could see that I had enough provisions to add the Buffalo Run. So that’s what I did. After making it back from the Buffalo Run, I made my way to OTR for the descent. Descending off OTR was fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was focused and my patience was in check. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. The knees and muscles felt good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and some grapes for breakfast (before the ride). I drank all of my sport drink and half water. Gear worked flawlessly. I have to get the courage to service the bottom bracket and the saddle. Other notes, I saw one cyclist and smoke (likely from a fire) near the Banducci Wall.
