Ah yes, the annual "oh crap, covered bridge ride is [this,next,soon] week and i'm not reeaaaaaady" ride. Been doing 30s and 35s, now gotta step up to 50 and see how that goes (CB is 65). Ride went well -- first 35 miles were under a foggy, cloudy sky with temps in the high 70s. The fog/clouds burned off on the last 15 and the sun was pretty hot. Probably what it will be like on Sunday in terms of heat, too... Contact points held up; feet were smoldering the last 3 miles or so, but it was tolerable, knowing the end was near. Glad it was NOT a death march at the end but also happy to be done. Scheduled stops at 18.3 and 28.9 worked well; a potential stop at 43 was rejected as being too close to the end. Coupla climbs caused some trouble; the one at 34 in particular was a struggle with a couple of steeper-than-usual sections. But the climbing now is a lot better than it was even a month ago. Each of the four Monocacy crossings involved, yes, more climbing, but the route chosen was not an accident ... w/Dan
