Skies were ... mixed ... when starting, but the forecast was pretty iffy on the idea of actual precipitation falling from said sky. Buuuuut there were drops about mile 25 and the rider shrugged and said, meh, it will pass.
Within the next mile it as a full-on shower (fortunately no thunder), with real puddles on the road. Soooo pulled the plug at 27.4 and took a bailout route back to the truck. That cut off about 4 miles of the planned loop (Peach Tree to Comus and then back on Slidell?.
Quite interesting descending several hills on the rolling parts of Slidell Road -- 35mph in the rain .. stings! Was not about to try to brake on those decents, just hang on, steer smoothly and let gravity do whatever it will.
Body felt fine; legs felt plenty strong; contact points a little tender from Sunday's shenanigans. Was anxious to get out and on the bike to keep the conditioning provided by that ride Sunday.
Discovered the loop of W. Willard/Offut/Edwards Ferry/Westerly is muuuuuch better in the clockwise direction. Had only done it in the other way and was really unimpressed.
