Anthony introduced me to his German, airline pilot, friend, Ant, who just moved here from Philadelphia. We have a surprising number of connections, the craziest being the first one he mentioned. I told him I was an animator but didn't tell him where I worked. He then told me a story about a vacation he was on in Baja where met Jim Kessler who worked at ILM and his wife who was an executive producer at Lucasfilm. They invited him up for a visit to Skywalker Ranch and ILM (back when we were at Kerner). The crazy thing is I was probably around when he was there! We did a "crazy" route through Emerald Hills and ended up crossing paths with Kira. We also went by Emerald Hills Cafe and Mademoiselle Colette on the way to The Baker Next Door without stopping - gasp! It was my first time at BND and I thought they were just okay. I tried a plain croissant which was a bit dry in the center. I also tried their Strawberry Chausson. I was expecting strawberries inside but instead it was a paste, sort of like, but not quite, jam. Neither pastry was that flavorful. Not terrible either, just mid. I installed a new chain last night and spin it through some gears to make sure it was all good. This morning went I start my ride, it was making a noise like something was rubbing or that maybe the PowerLock wasn't fully seated but nothing obvious seemed to be wrong with the bike. I double checked that the chain is compatible and it seems legit. Might be time for a new cassette/chainrings.
