New set of tires and sealant after last weeks “glass capades” to break in… Rode from home… was to meet up with Ash Lo at ARTIC but didn’t realize she parked at Yorba Regional Park and ended up chasing me to ARTIC even though I hopped in with 5 Pro riders and we were tapping it out at 25-30 mph. When I arrived at ARTIC she was just a couple of minutes behind me! Anyhow we watered up at ARTIC, rode to the first restroom southbound on PCH then up PCH northbound to Long Beach. Absolutely perfect day: cool, overcast, light head wind outbound and northbound and a tailwind southbound and eastbound on the Santa Ana River trail. We turned around at the north end of Long Beach and road along the LB bike trail of which there was hardly any people out and the beach was like a dream. We stopped about every 30-40 miles to rewater up and so we could eat things like my semi dried mangos 🥭 and she had some kind of bar. Her power output always blows my mind! With lots more that could be tapped! Overall a perfect 10 ride. Thanks Ash Lo. You made the miles flow like magic. The longest miles was the stretch from Green River across Corona and Riverside solo! Weird…. And very much appreciated. Look forward to our next ultra distance adventure! PS I don’t know if it’s how much you inspired me to up the tempo on the way back or the new bibs I wore but I’ve been home for about 30 minutes and my quads are screaming at me! That’s not happened since many decades ago when I moved up above Mt Baldy Village and had to ride the mountain every training day!
