I can confirm the "grinding" noise I'm getting (after I installed the new chain) is only happening when I'm in the small ring. Bob said he could see the chain lifting off during certain parts of the revolution. Unfortunately, I can't replicate it on the stand.
The ride started off cloudy and a little misty and I was wondering if I should've brought the rain jacket. By the time I got to around Pulgas Water Temple to Filoli, the sun was starting to come out and pretty soon it was blue skies. For Bob, it also started off overcast and then became sunny on the way as well.
Right around the archery hairpin on Kings, we started getting fog. Then a little further up, we started getting tree rain.
Descending Tunitas, it was very foggy and the road was wet. It wasn't until sometime between the Grassy Knoll and the Bridge of Death that the fog lifted and the road was dry again. I didn't bring a rain jacket but I did bring a jacket for Half Moon Bay in case it was windy (and cold). I'm glad I had it.
The coast was gray but luckily not cold. Since Dad's is still closed, we went to Sacrilege Brewery and Kitchen. I didn't know they had vegetarian options for Bob otherwise we would've gone sooner. Their Tater Tots are always so good. Perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside.
On the way back we ran into Daniel and the WNR crew stopped on Tunitas at Star Hill. We rode to the top together and we came across some of the prettiest angel boners shortly after we got going.
Then on the way down Kings, as I came around the corner before Huddart, a car had pulled out, ruining what had been a wonderful, car-free, bombing run. I backed off to delay the inevitable catch but then up ahead I saw Andrew and Bridget so I stopped to say hi.
The headwind on the way back up Cañada was not fun.
