I got a late start leaving from Ward Cove market. It was 39F and 2 hours before sunset when I started splashing down the pipeline trail. At the dog park lot, I dodged right onto the spur trail instead of left up the Salvage trail. The spur intersects with the graveled Ward Creek trail. I took a left and made my way to the Last Chance campground. From there, I spun up the muddy road to mile 5 on Revilla Road. Traffic was light coming from the Harriet Hunt direction. Mud never got sloppy enough to struggle through. By the time I reached the former paintball site the sun was almost set, it stopped hailing, and that was good timing to turn back. While enjoying the long down hill coming back, I slowed to regain the pipeline trail again, near Last Chance camp, all the way back to Ward Cove market and clear skies.
