Note, this is not an actual GPX track, it's my cyclometer data plugged into the downloaded route file using https://gpx.studio/ because Dumbass here forgot to start RWGPS because he was eager to get riding
I did actually ride it. Alone. Because everybody else was "chickensh*t," weather weenies ;-) (Nah, they were the smart ones, really, I'm just an ex "Taswegian" who's used to miserable commute weather. 27 years a shift worker.)
It's here just to maintain format for some personal goals, not to prove any points. Nobody's been cheated, nobody's cheating. The ride was easy, cold and wet. Kinda prefer riding alone, you don't have to make allowances for others and they aren't there worrying about allowances they might have to make for you.
The route? Bloody amazing little day out! The drive there wasn't too taxing, nor the drive back, the motorway to the bass coast turnoff is one of the few motorways I've seen work without choking.
The heavens opened halfway through unfolding "Greenie", my Greenspeed GT20 trike, but I plugged on under the shelter of Wheel Heat's verandah, the bike shop set as the muster point. It kept raining until I got back to the car!
The trail is an easy gravel ride up the Bass Coast Rail Trail. It's a quartzy sand base and the sand gets into everything, including the disk brake pads, sadly, but that was a rainy day. A more sensible weather choice for the ride would likely see no such problems. The old rail reserve provides easy, even fast, riding all the way to Woolamai.
The Bass Coast trail itself will get you all the way to San Remo where, across the bridge, relatively safe cycling will get you to the Cowes Ferry. I haven't ridden much beyond Woolamai, yet, but would like to get the train from my home to Frankston, ride to Stony Point, catch the ferry to Cowes and ride the whole thing to Cap Wickham. The follow the same route in reverse the next day. Watch for that one, it has been planned.
Another way to access the trail is take the V-Line train to Bunyip, ride from there to San Remo (yes, it's a bit of a haul, one or two days, depending on your fitness) where you pick up the western end. From there, the Bas Coast Rail Trail will take you through Woolamai, Kilcunda (a good lunch stop and also where the amazing old rail viaduct is), to Wonthaggi and Cape Patterson.
You could combine the Metro to Frankston and the Ferry route to get there and return by reversing the route back up to Bunyip for the V-Line back to Melbourne for 4 to 5 days of South Gippsland heaven. Just do it in better weather than I did, LOL.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
