I take the lead. Followers are: Liliane, Dave Taylor, Phil Hallewell and John Hare. Heading sort of southwest, we pass through Iver and Richings Park to our first stop at Datchet Sailing Club. At the entrance, The underside of Dave's bike gets clobbered by the "road blocker" barrier coming up as he rides over it. Luckily he stays upright and the bike sustains no damage. The sensor which lowers the barrier seems to work better with large lumps of metal such as cars, and is a bit erratic as far as bikes are concerned. Having said all that, after our refreshments, we meet a large 4X4 trying to leave with the barrier refusing to budge.
Unable to help the 4X4 and the nice lady driving it we proceed around the reservoir through Datchet, Eton Wick and Dorney. Somewhere around Bray, Phil bales out, and the rest of us continue to our lunch stop at "The Beehive" pub, at White Waltham. Grub is nicely presented and tasty, but expensive and not generously proportioned. May be I would have been better off with the roast.
After lunch we head home via Paley Street, Bray and the Jubilee River. After crossing the M4 we follow route 61 to Trenches, then Langley Park, Bellswood Lane, Iver and Cowley.
A very pleasant Autumn day.
Cheers Bernie
