Today was a 50/50 ride. It was cold and windy. I wore 1 base layer, arms and knees. I decided to do Willow Springs n Back because the winds were from the south and it was furious. I think I was doing under 15mph for the majority of the outbound leg. I think the most difficult part was getting to Willow Springs. The wind was cold, furious, and somewhat discouraging. I could see where I was trying to get to, but my gosh, the mental aspect was the most difficult part. When I reached the turn-around point, I realized that the wind was a cross-tail. So, after battling the outbound headwind, I wasn't going to get a 100% assist on the way back. The return leg was much more comfortable as I had anticipated, especially the mental aspect. I felt better concentrated, but it wasn't a walk in the park by any means. Before the ride started, I had some stomach cramps, I had this happen before and I told myself that if it happens again, then wait it out a bit and take some milk of magnesia. That's exactly what I did and it helped. I had very little pains in that respect. Concentration, not so good on the way out, better on the way back. Balance was real good. I felt my legs behaving symmetric and efficient. Ailments, some mild numbness in the hands, my head was cold from the wind. I should have worn my cap. some right calf soreness, but that went away in a minute or two. Gear is working well. Charity app is working well, checked on it twice and it tracked my ride close to 100%. I dropped my chain once, shifted it back to big ring, no biggy. I need to lube the chain.
