This was Bob's second weekend back on the bike after being sick for three weeks. He wanted to ease back into it still adding a bit more climbing. Sonny also had to be back by 3p so this ride worked best. I checked weather forecasts for multiple locations to confirm that it wasn't going to rain since the skies were saying otherwise. All said no rain. It was sprinkle on the drive to the freeway and on the way down it was definitely raining. It cleared up south of Palo Alto and was dry for the start. As we neared Stevens Canyon, I could feel it was getting misty and it was more or less like that all the way down until we turned onto Coleman Rd. when it stopped and warmed up. Before that I was chilly and considered putting on layers. It was fine in Almaden but I started shivering at lunch. I was worried about how cold I would be when we got back on the back but weirdly, I stopped shivering while we were still at the table. No idea why. By the time we got back to Coleman Rd. it was misty again. There were ominous looking clouds around us but fortunately no rain. Getting back into Los Gatos/Saratoga, we could smell that it had just rained and then shortly after that the wet roads were further evidence that it had just rained. I thought we were so lucky to have missed it but eventually it started to rain lightly on us. I really wish I had brought my fender. I can't remember the last time I had soggy butt. By the time we got back to Los Altos, it was dry and warmer with no evidence of rain.
