Desperate to keep Riding Tunnel Count = 0 More wind was forecast today but it was sunny and warm when I got up, so a quick Breakfast, change and pack everything and I was off. Following straight roads up the wide flat valley, I quickly passed Nayorro then Bifuka and I was approaching halfway by 11am. I stopped at a 7eleven for a coffee and tried to see if any hotels were available further along my route as the weather was great and Today I would have a tailwind to the east coast if I could find digs ! A motorcyclist stopped to chat ... turned out he eas doing the Cape to Cape too .. but he would finish Today ! We chatted almost 30 minutes, he was from Austria and is out here till mud July. I eventually had to say Bye and move on ... 4 miles. I had to stop after 4 miles as this was the 2000 mile point of my Tour of Japan. I paused for photos and a video and he went past as I was filming - we both waved. I reached Oiteneppu where I had to stop and buy food as Tonights hotel is on a Camping Ground 10 miles from any town. I then had a climb through the woods in Bear Territory and even took my picture with one 😂 At my hotel the guy spoke no English so I was desperately google translating asking if he could ri g and book a hotel on the coast 25 miles further on but after much effort the answer was No. Its Golden Week here and everyone is off and everywhere is booked up. So instead of an easy downwind 25 miles tonight it will be into a 30 mph 0 C wind in the morning and I still have 80 miles to get to Wakkanai in 30 - 40 mph snow blizzards ... what could go wrong !
