As explained in docs for this perm, this route follows 2 different bike trails. the Trail of The Coeur d'Alenes is paved and at the top there is 6 miles one way of unpaved NorPac trail. once at top, then reverse. The gravel part was very hard for first 0.9 mile ( my track mile 21.5 - 22.4) with some 15% parts and very rocky. then the last 5 miles to summit were more just hard pack dirt/ small gravel road like with some ruts, wash boards and 2 sort rocky sections. Awesome ride up to Lookout Pass. I started and ended at my hotel in Kellogg, which is technically not part of the route. NOTE: A smoother option, and safer is seen & described at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55902009 It adds 3.2 extra miles, but misses the 5-11% jagged rock climb of the original route.
