Today was my first complete ride after having had an injured knee. The weather was about 10 to 20 degrees warmer than the previous ride. I wore 1 base layer, knees, arms, neck, face mask, and skull cap. It was just enough to keep me warm. I probably could have used one more base layer, but it wasn't too bad. The coldest part of my body were my hands. I was wearing normal gloves. I ended up putting my scull cap on after about 3 minutes of riding. I'm glad I brought my face mask, because the descent was cold! I felt pretty good from the start. My legs were there, they felt fresh. I did modest tempo to the top of the descent and cruised it to the Keene base. The climb was good. It didn't take too long for me to settle into a comfortable tempo, not too slow or in the red. Pretty much in the zone for the entire climb. There were times where I had to slow down and save some for the the last half of the climb. I was in and out of the saddle for the majority of the climb. No serious heroics, but I did manage to do a push over the loop monument. Concentration was good, but on the downhill, I felt like I was being chased by some gremlins. I was having to coach myself to keep my concentration from going sour. Fortunately, I was able to keep it together. There's no other way back on this ride. Balance was good, but a bit off while out of the saddle. Ailments consisted of a bit of soreness on the knee cap for a few minutes. Some lower back pain as I neared the summit (on the return). All of which were either mitigateable or went away by themselves. Gear is working well. I got my new charging cover for my smartphone and it worked like a charm. My phone was at 100% charge for the entire ride and the charging cover was at 3 bars of charge left. It was at 3 bars of charge remaining when I departed for the beginning the ride. This is looking promising for later rides that will last 2 to 4 hours in duration and even more. All other gear is working well. The Gopro showed that it was not recording when I got to the Keene base, but I think I may have forgot to start it. Other notes, the Livetrack on Dad's computer stopped as I was at the Weston/WTR intersection. I'm not sure what happened there, but that was approximately 60 seconds from the finish. Perhaps I made it home before it could finish the tracking. Will have to see how that works on the next ride.
