I think I've done this Cowell-Purisima/Coastal Trail - Purisima Creek Redwoods loop 4 or 5 times this year now. Each time, the scenery/wildflowers/vegetation has been different. And this time, there was way more wildlife - tons of bunnies, possibly a harrier - all I could see was the back of it and it looked like a bunny from behind with the same coloration of light brown with a pop of white, a mole or some tiny rodent, and a big heron that went gliding right over my head to land in a field.
Suzanne had to be back for a lunch so we had to start at an ungodly hour. That meant it was going to be chilly and with the recent weather, cloudy as well, making it even chillier. The forecast kept changing, with chances of showers being a possibility and then not happening. On the way, it was misting enough that I need to use my wipers and at the start of the ride it was misting enough that I wish I had wipers for my glasses. We didn't find the sun until we got halfway into Purisima Creek.
On the way up Purisima Creek Trail, Suzanne spotted a downed tree with epicormic shoots - originally branches growing up that are now trees.
Suzanne turned around right when Purisima Creek really starts to go up so she could get back and Roxanne and I took it chill the rest of the way. Reentering Purisima Creek from the North Parking, we were riding in the clouds before the super fun descent of Whittemore Gulch.
I've been wanting to check out Half Moon Bay Brewing Company that replaced Sacrilege Brewery and Kitchen. My burger was pretty good and Roxanne's fried chicken sandwich was also good. The steak fries weren't bad. I had an older batch that was a bit overcooked. Roxanne got a fresh batch that was very hot.
They had tempting desserts but Roxanne hasn't been to Dad's Luncheonette either. Since it's so close we decided to go over there for dessert. The "Peachy Cakey Thing I Guess" was delish!
