Today was the first ride since the TGF. Given that I botched the video nearing OTR and SS, I tried to re-enact the moment. I went as far as to remove my arm warmers and toss them into the same bushes as when I did in the TGF. I kept the camera rolling in that moment. When I reached the summit of Banducci, I continued without stopping. As this was how I did it in the TGF. The legs felt real good today. I attribute some of it due to the cool weather. Being that the air is slightly more dense. I made my way through OTR in good time. Went up Banducci Wall and the legs were responding well. The remainder of Banducci was steady tempo, no less than moderate. And mitigating traffic. As I mentioned, I continued without stopping after reaching the summit. The descent was fun. I was able to reach the speeds that I did in the TGF, while doing the tuck. When I was going through the farmlands, on Banducci, I was trying to calculate the time ahead a competitor was. It was about a mile into Banducci, on the flats, where I spotted a rider in my category. I took a peak at my GPS and it was around 46 minutes. So, I made my way around SS. Making it to the tunnel in under one hour. I sped through SS and headed back. When I reached that same location where the competitor was, I took note of the time. I think I calculated that he was about 20 minutes behind. Plus or minus. The guy that got first place posted 3:17 hours. I did 3:55 hours. So he was 38 minutes ahead. And that means, if that guy was the winner, he gained about 18 minutes on me on the last hour of the ride. Thus, I doubt he was the leader. Nevertheless, I made my way back on CV. I was thinking about the rider that took a massive pull, for a few miles. I was thinking, if I could do it again, I would have taken a pull, even for just 30 seconds. I'm not sure if that's un-finished business, but definitely something I would improve upon. The last climb went well, I was holding a good tempo. From there, it was recovery, down Route 202, picked up my arm warmers (from where I ditched it). And, fun and games from there. Other notes, I saw 2 cyclists today.
