The weather was great. When I was about to get ready, I checked the smartphone and it said "43 degrees". So, I figured I'd wear the standard winter kit. I put the kit on and went to the garage. I stepped outside. And, it was nowhere near 43 degrees. 55, at the least. So, I took my extra clothes off, put the extra carry-on bag on, and headed out. There was a mild but noticeable tailwind as I was making my way up to the top of the descent. I cruised the downhill. When I reached the base, I took off my arm and knee warmers. Stashed them in the extra bag and headed back. At this point, the legs were a bit sluggish. It took a while to get warmed up. The first half of the ride felt average at best. But, there was a slight headwind, so that made things seem worse. After the second dip, I was feeling better. I was able to hold a good tempo from that point on. When I reached the summit, I kept the power down, but no digs. The wind was more significant at this point. From there, I headed back. I had to replace the GoPro battery. The remainder was mostly recovery. Cocentration was good. No ailments. Balance and form was solid.. Gear worked perfect. Other notes, I saw 4 or 5 cyclists today.
