Great morning for a ride. Overcast, spotty drizzle to start, no wind and temps in the mid 60s. Started from Butte Creek Elementary School in Marquam. Route began with a 0.8 mile stretch on busy Highway 213 to S. Drake Rd. Signs were up stating paving on Drake Rd would begin Aug 24 with a road closure. The next few miles was a nice warm-up to the Gallon House covered bridge (mile 9.7). Rode through Silverton then up Water Avenue to Quall Rd and the first hill. There was a short (0.4 mile), steep hill at the end of Quall Rd and the turn for Madrona Heights. The next section was Abiqua, started on the south side of Abiqua Creek to the bridge then returned to Highway 213 via the north side. Then it was a 6.7 mile segment to Scotts Mills Park and a rest stop (mile 32.5). Nice cruise on Knowlens Bridge Rd, crossing Highway 213 onto Kropf Rd. Left onto Monte Cristo Rd, with a few long rollers followed by a nice spin into Monitor. The final few miles was on Meridian Rd, Marquam Rd, Wagon Rd and finally 0.5 miles on Highway 213 back to the school.
