The weather has warmed up a bit. I went to be late last night. Luckily, I woke up early enough. It was in the 80's when I got out. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The legs felt better by the time I got there. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in about 29 minutes, so pretty good on time considering I wasn't pushing it. After making it to the base, I headed back up the mountain. It took about 7 or 8 minutes for the climbing legs to settle in. The landmarks went quick. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to keep my momentum going. The morale got better as the landmarks went by. I kept my momentum going over the top by trying to make it there before the song ended on my music speaker. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I pushed to the top of Weston and shut it down.
Concentration was pretty good. I had stuff to think about and the morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes before departing. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. I installed protective (sliced) inner tube pieces under the brake hood as I could see damage on the handlebar tape. It is working like a charm and should extend the life of the handlebar tape significantly. Other notes, no cyclists today, but there was a bunch of motor cyclists on their way up as I was climbing.
