The weather is very nice now. It was in the 70's when I got out. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard summer kit. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, I was all eyes and ears. I was near max going over the top, but had matches to burn. I recovered on the flat section and completed the climb. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to recover, let traffic by and headed down the mountain. It was safe with no traffic from behind. The trek through the farmlands was mostly moderate tempo, no heroics. After passing the front SS entrance, I took a few moments to stretch and then made my way around the backside. I put in a good sprint on the descent. I stopped at the local park for a quick bio break and got back on the road shortly after. I passed the tunnel in about 1:05 hours. So, not too bad. I stopped at the local mini mart to mix a sport drink. Then I headed back home. The return trek through the farmlands was steady tempo. I had a tailwind most of the way back. Tail cross at worse. The road is still bumpy on Pellesier. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:29 hours, so I gave up just 4 minutes. Not too bad. The last climb went quick. The cool air temperature helped. I stopped at the summit to feed a Clif Bar with water. After that, I headed back. Route 202 had traffic mitigation just before OTR. I merged when it was safe. Descending off OTR was mostly relaxing. I pushed over Mariposa and to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. My right hip is feeling better. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and some grapes before departing. I fed a Clif Bar with water and went through close to two bottles of sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. I had to charge my Di2 battery for 5 to 7 minutes before departing as it the indicator light was red. It held up just fine.
Other notes, there was one cyclist descending off OTR as I was on my way out. Nothing special going on in SS.
