The temperature is great now. In the low 60's. The wind was from the South East. Fortunately, it wasn't too strong today. The legs felt average to start. I was warmed up by the time I reached the end of OTR. Making it there in good average time. Banducci was aided by a tailwind, so I was able to keep it out of the red. When I reached the summit, I took a few moments rest and hydrated. Shortly after, I hit the downhill. I was able to reach 43 MPH towards the bottom. A definite treat. I made my way out to SS with the tailwind. Probably averaging over 25 MPH. I made my way around the backside. That's when I started to go into the wind. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 55 minutes. From this point, I was calculating how much time I'd loose, going into the headwind. I was listening to my music, via the speaker. To make the ride interesting, I was trying to calculate where I would be when the songs ended. It was a welcome distraction. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:25 hrs, I think. So, I lost 10 minutes due to the wind, alone. When I got to the last climb, I pulled over to swap out batteries on the GoPro. It had about 14% battery life remaining. I made my way up the climb keeping steady tempo. After reaching the summit, I had to push through the headwind, over the false flat. Route 202 was mostly traffic mitigation. I reached OTR. I got there at about 1:50 hrs, into the ride. I was trying to calculate the time remaining. I estimated it would take half the time it took to get there at the beginning of the ride. My calculations were very close. I got back at just over 2:02 hrs. so, about 12 to 13 minutes. Compared to about 22 minutes, on the way out. I'll have to remember those numbers. Concentration was good, not great. I was coaching myself, more often then not. Balance and form was good. Ailments, maybe a hint of GI soreness, nothing too detracting. Gear worked great. I had the GoPro set to 1080p, with protune. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists today.
