Finally took the elusive Lake sprint "win". :)
HUGE group this morning. Guessing around 100 people. I started at the back. Man there was some sketchy riding.
On Great Highway, I followed Matt's wheel most of the way up to the front. Once we got on to the lake lap I ended up following wheels to the front.
Honestly, I didn't know where to be. People up front where jockeying for position which I didn't really want to take part in. I was up here to "race".
I thought about drifting back but decided that would be more dangerous. And then I'd be at the back with all the potential dangers.
Just before getting onto Skyline, a small group started to breakaway and a gap was starting to form. Scott scooted through a gap to close up but I just decided to hang tight and be patient.
Everyone came back together on Skyline. After Great Highway, Matt came by me and I got on his wheel. People started to sprint before Lake Merced Blvd. but again, I just stayed patient. They weren't going that fast. I knew I could sprint faster than they were going.
Raymond and Matt started their sprint and I just stuck on Matt's wheel. We started hauling in the people that started early. I was itching to really wind up my sprint but I decided to stay behind Matt for as long as I could. Eventually it was just the three of us. When Matt went by Raymond, then I went by Matt for the win! It's gotta be The Plan! :)
We heard after that there was a crash on the east side of the lake, around the golf course.
I think the group was so large this morning because of the Claire's Kitchen pop-up at the top of Twin Peaks. It was a huge line.
I pre-ordered the Apple Galette, Chocolate Pear Muffin, and Chocolate Cake w/Salted Peanut Butter Buttercream.
I had the cake there and took the other stuff to go. The cake was really good, as is the Apple Galette. I'll update about the muffin later.
Update - the muffin was delicious!
