Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

Breakfast was fine in this tatty motel. Glad to be on my way.
Weathers better today, dry, light winds and foggy. Nice easy flat start with a light tail wind. As I leave town I’m followed by a group of young Americans. Asking questions and pushing the pace. Fine by me, enjoy the company and challenge. It doesn't last long couple of miles and they pull up. I’m warm now although the wind is chilly.
I’ve a ferry to catch today from Dauphin island to Fort Morgan. Ferries leave at 12:30 and 14:00. To catch the 12:30 I’d have to cover the 70 miles in 5 hours. Not likely but possible. So I crack on and see what happens. Roads are good and only light traffic. Fog is pretty thick in places, so very little to see all morning.
The Biloxi Bay bridge is a two mile wide low level concrete bridge with a good separate bike lane. Unfortunately the views are ruined by sea mist/fog.
As I approach Dauphin island the causeway is barely visible. At over 5 miles long and only metres above the sea. The winds always going to be a problem. Keeping one eye on my watch, press on. Arriving at the port with barely a couple of minutes to spare.
The cloud brakes, sun comes out and it’s much nicer. The last 25 miles is pleasant. Clear sky's and a tailwind. Huge houses all built on stilts line the coast.
A walk on the beach tonight a rare event in the last month or so.
