Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

Waiting for the sun to come up this morning, after the clock changes yesterday. Hoping to ride 106 miles today so on the road asap. Rain overnight and forecast for today, heavy. Damp roads, humid and a side wind.
Not long before I’m crossing the Ochlockonee river and the Apalachicola forest. This whole area is pretty scenic today. The trees lining the roads forming a tunnel. Must be spectacular in the summer.
Not long before I’m entering Tallahassee, not a big town, but enough to keep me aware. The bike track goes through the university and I missed the turning. No worries I work my way around. Sometimes awkward when the garmin takes you down an alley. When you have been on roads for so long.
Soon cleared the town and time for lunch. Gas station again but I have my own food. Just stock up on fluids. 56 miles in and 50 to go.
Rain starts as I pull away. No worries I’m drenched in sweat due to the humidity. So T-shirt and shorts it is. Rain gets steadily heavier, I can hear the thunder but see no lightning at first. Teeming with rain now and flash lightning happening every couple of minutes. I can’t remember whether I should get off the bike or it’s OK to carry on. I carry on, as long as the waters running off the road and not pooling I’m good. Fellow drivers are looking at me in awe. What to do. Pull over and stand under a tree. That’s not right either. Just push on. Only 30 miles to go.
It does ease off a little just before I reach the Motel. The lady behind the desk isn’t too happy with the mess I’m dripping onto her polished floor. Advises me that there is a dryer in the laundry room. Not for me, wash everything then set up a line in the room and turn the heating up. 👍
Cold and sunny tomorrow, we shall see 😄
