Sunday 31st May 2015. John MacMillan's long ride. Followers are: John Hare, Jim Swan and me.
The four of us head out of Uxbridge in light rain. Through Bucks golf course and Denham Village, we go past Denham Airfield along Marrish Lane. Off through the Chalfonts we arrive at Ozzy's cafe for elevenses. Jim's order of either white or brown toast, confuses the Polish waitress, until he finally makes a decision.
John Hare leaves us here and the remaining three of us head towards Latimer. Just after the river there is the first true off road bit, through a field to be precise. From there onward, the route alternates between minor road and muddy track through Flaunden and Whelpley Hill. As anticipated, my mudguards trap a load of mud, to the extent that I no longer need brakes when descending hills. At one point we enter a field containing rare breed cattle. How nice I think until I realise they are all bullocks. We go past them slowly but almost manage a stampede. Eventually sanity returns and we are back on the black stuff. We are met at The Crown, Berkhamsted by Chris Kinsey.
After lunch we climb out of the valley towards Chesham, again a mixture of off road and tarmac. Chris leaves us to return to his car, parked at Chipperfield, while the rest of us return through The Chalfonts. John Mac leaves at St Peter, Jim and I return to Denham church for a cuppa. It's almost chucking out time when we get there, so the place is almost empty.
Weather wet in the morning, dry in the afternoon, but very muggy.
Regards Bernie G.

Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
