Rode w/ Henry & David, but we missed Thoreau; GREAT day for a wonderful ride, especially w/ friends in a moderately-paced & reasonably socially distanced, (sometimes way more, sometimes not so much). Rain stopped right before leaving Princeton for Rocky Gap, sun burned through the clouds that didn't move east as fast, & had a blue sky bike ride. Side roads to provide were still a bit wet & puddled, a bit slick in spots & water rivulets occasionally rushing across. So still slimed parts of the bike & my legs. Lots of bugs, but zero eaten or inhaled. Wolf Creek looked very high & strong, flowing over some poor residents' driveways & I assume only ingress or egress. Spooked a doe into grunting at us while she dozed near the road, caught her off-guard? Still lots of butterflies buying it, mostly swallowtails today, but death count perhaps slightly lower than last week, like the coronavirus death count, at least in certain areas. Sure surprised that little black long-haired Pom down closer to Narrows hasn't bought it yet, chased us for 100 yards, even after I chased him back across the ditch toward home. About 2-3 dozen 18-wheelers on Rt. 61, mostly west-bound, very unusual. I assume parts of 460 between Narrows & Princeton must be closed b/c of the heavy frequent recent rains & New River flooding in our region. Maybe a chance to dodge more raindrops & get another ride in this "holiday" weekend, as the pandemic still curtains things. At least not in the hoppin' busy & stressful clinic for 2.5 days.
